Symptoms of the illness

Characteristics of the remedy

Similarity of the symptoms of the illness and characteristics of the remedy

"In a healthy volunteer, any remedy causes remedy inflicted symptoms ALPHA, BETA, GAMMA. In the same way as other physiological factors, this medicine can modify the A,B,G symptoms reflecting an abnormal state (disease) in such a way that the latter are converted into the remedy inflicted symptoms ALPHA, BETA, GAMMA, which are characterised by their temporary nature.

However, the ALPHA, BETA and GAMMA symptoms which have replaced the A,B,G symptoms of the illness will only be temporary if the homeopathic remedy is administered in extremely low doses. If the homeopath gives his patient an excessive dose of the appropriate homeopathic medicine the A,B,G symptoms of the patient will still be converted into ALPHA, BETA, GAMMA symptoms, but the new symptoms will last as long as the A,B,G symptoms would have done.

For this reason the organism is just as incapable of combating the ALPHA, BETA, GAMMA disease caused by the remedy as it would have been of warding off the original illness A,B,G."

The natural disease is replaced by the artificial illness caused by the medicine. From now on the artificial illness will influence the vital force, which at first does not cause any noticeable change in the symptoms, at most a slight increase known as a primary aggravation. Subsequently, if repeated artificial stimulation is avoided, the illness caused by the medicine will disappear and an improvement will take place. However, this will only happen if the dose was not too strong, otherwise the artificial illness will persist. In this case, although the patient seems to need the selected medicine, his state will not improve; on the contrary, the symptoms will be aggravated. Think of the patient - later to become Kent's second wife - who showed symptoms of Lachesis. All the homeopaths she consulted gave her Lachesis, but her condition went from bad to worse. Finally she consulted Kent who identified the error and gave his patient other homeopathic remedies instead of Lachesis, whereby her condition steadily improved.
